About the artwork
“We Can Do It”, the girl proudly showing off her biceps steals a smile from even the most jaded viewer.
The call for equality – political, social and economic – between men and women is played down by a contemporary reinterpretation of the famous poster by J. Howard Miller that appeared in the United States during the Second World War: the icon of American popular culture, Rosie the Riveter, at that time celebrated women who worked in factories in the absence of their men sent to the front.
